Make Up Haul - Oops

Sooooo Priceline had like a huge sale on, 40% off all cosmetics, and I brought it upon myself to drag me and a friend to Priceline to stock up on some goodies. Buy stock up I meant I spent over $100 on make up.

And this is what this $100 expenditure now looks like in terms of make up.

I'd heard about these recently. The maybelline FITme foundation sticks. They have only been recently released, only a couple of weeks ago. I bought one a while back and its probably one of the best buys I've had so I felt the need to get another one while it was on sale. Its basically a foundation stick. Its not completely matte, but is shine free, so powder if necessary for your skin but otherwise its great! Really simple to use, light weight, great coverage and handy size to stick in your bag if needed. I got it in the colour 120 like I always use, but will probably use a light shade as my summer skin pales down.

I then picked up another FITme product which was the concealer. I've never used these before but heard from many other beauty gurus that they are very good to use. I've always stuck to what I know because I'm scared of what changing products could do, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try it. I have it in the colour sand as I found the lighter shade was too light for my skin

Again by maybelline I got the mineral powder. I use this in the colour classic ivory as I am a snowman haha umm basically I use this on day when my skin is good or if I just need a little bit of colour. Has really good coverage with just a little
Haha I feel like I have a theme going on, I also bought the maybelline falsies mascara because its only the best mascara ever and is needed by everyone! It doesn't clump and looks really natural, make your eyes lashes extra long!
Under the reccomendation of many beauty bloggers and gurus, I finally bought the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. I've normally always used maybelline fit me liquid foundation, but recently I've found it to heavy and cakey. Bloggers such as Tanya Burr, Zoe Sugg etc always use this foundation in tutorials and say its like their absolute favourite drugstore foundation. So again, I thought I'd step out of my comfort zone and try it. I have it in the colour classic ivory.
Next I got the face of australia blusher in a colour called hello dolly. Its a really cute pale pink button. It is very similar to the mac blusher dolly mix that Ariana Grande is known to wear. It is pretty cheap, long lasting and natural looking. Just buy it honestly, you won't regret it.

Next I bought an Essie nail polish in the colour cute as button. Its a bright pink and is absolutely adorable. I don't really know what else to say about it haha apart from the adorable name and colour I love it.
Another nail polish I also bought is one of my classic favourites was the Rimmel 60 seconds try nail polish in Ethereal, a shimmery pale pink. Cost about $4. Totally worth it.
I picked up an eye shadow palette which I had been looking for, for ages. Its the physicians formula nude palette which is a small palette filled with natural shades of pinks and nudes and browns, really cute pack, bought it for I think $20??
The final thing I bought was the Revlon colourburst in juicy papaya. I saw Tanya Burr use this in a tutorial and fell in love. So I waited until the sale to buy. Its a beautiful peachy coral colour and I cannot wait to use it!

Okely dokely, that is how I blew a paycheck in one go :)

haahaha

No one has ever become poor by giving.

Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

I'm a believer in if you do good to the world, a person, anything or anyone, that good will be done to you.

Today while on a wander round the city, I had a serious realisation of what our society is like, we spend money on things we don't need to impress people we don't like. I, a criminal of this action, realised that I had been literally throwing my money down the drain, even though I'm exposed everyday to people who need the money more than I do. I was wearing an outfit which collectively was probably worth a couple of hundred dollars, which probably isn't actually necessary on my part.

Today I was walking towards one of the stores where I do a fair amount of my spending. As I strolled I noticed a young woman sitting on the ground, looking like she'd been through a hedge backwards to put it bluntly. She had a cardboard sign, "age 19. Homeless, single, pregnant. Spare change appreciated"

With about $60 in my purse I could've spent on a new top or shoes or bag or other items my affluenza brainwashed mind was blocked. I believed it was more worth my while to help this woman by spending $5 on a bottle of water and muffin out of a small cafe rather than that pair of shoes I really didnt need. The smile on her face when I gave them to her was heart warming. Knowing that I have done something good for a person was such a rewarding feeling.

No one has ever become poor my giving to others. Next time you see a person in need, think if that was me would I want them to help me?

2014 - a year of self love

In 2013 I discovered the person I wanted to be, 2014 will be the year I become that person.

So 2013 was a pretty tough year for me, and probably a lot of others. I dealt with things I've never had to before, like the stress of graduating from high school, getting a high enough score into university, as well as dealing with normal teenager-y things. Like body image, insecurities, issues involving friends and school related things like stress and anxiety. But through all of it, I discovered the person I want to be. And it seems silly almost to say, yeah I didn't become that person because I was too busy, as I had many opportunities to start.

I want this year to be a year of self love. Where I put my health and happiness first. And when I achieve or even continue to live like this, I will feel content in myself, which has been said to shine out of people. What I mean is like they glow, you can tell they are happy with themselves, their life, the world around them. I truly believe that when you witness people with this, they are all the more beautiful than they were to begin with.

I went through a phase of self loathe. Lets say between the ages of 14 to 16. I hated myself. I thought I was ugly, I thought I was fat, that no boy would ever love me because of how horrible I looked. I then went through some mental health issues, which I'm not going to openly discuss, that made things all the worse. I had braces. I honestly hated myself.

In 2013 I thought a lot of things through a realised how unhappy I was with myself and decided to change that. Although as pathetic as it sounds I didn't have the time in 2013, I aim to make 2014 be the year I become the person I want to. I've given up with hating on myself. I've decided to be a happier, healthier person, whether that means getting up early and going for a run each morning or going to the gym or just eating better, I believe that I will be able to be this person. I've started thinking with a more positive mindset. Like you see perfect, slim, toned models who we forget have had a million different adjustments through photoshop and is what young girls aim to be. I've realised I honestly don't look like that, but I've also agreed with myself that I'm definitely not fat. You see all the girls asking what their body shape is, pear shaped, hour glass etc. it took me a while but I've come to the conclusion that I am simply Rachel-shaped and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

Just recently I've began thinking in a more positive mindset and I honestly feel happier, I laugh at the stupidest of things that I have done, which say two years ago I would have gone bright red and wanted the ground to swallow me whole.

I've decided this year I'm going to embrace my flaws and not hide away under layers of make up like I used to. I'd wear, foundation, concealer, powder, blush, bronzer, eye liner, mascara, sort of ridiculous now I think about it. One of my recent posts was about the amount of make up I wear. And within two weeks of posting that, it has reduced again. I've reduced it to concealer, powder and blush, it looks way more natural and healthy, as well as saving me a heap of cash. Apart from doing my skin absolute wonders, I feel more comfortable like that.

When you can fall in love with yourself, you can then share that love with someone who appreciates you, rather that you looking for love to compensate for self deficit.

This year I'm going to love myself for me. I'm the only me in this world and thats never going to change. I know I'm not perfect, but who is? I'm going to accept and embrace my flaws, think more positively, live in a more healthy way, and hope to spread positive vibes and inspire others to find self love. The only thing holding you back is you, so you've got to let go, and just see where positive living will take you.

December Favourites Xx

Good Morning Good Evening and Good Afternoon lovely people, I hope you have all had a wonderful December, Christmas, silly season and all that jazz! So, my December favourites, there is quite a range, from shoes to websites to tea toxs.

First off fashion, there are some items which on first glance I wouldn't normally choose to wear.

For example dungarees (overalls) are an item of clothing I never thought I would suit. But for work I'm not allowed to wear anything to short or exposing so I've found that overalls paired with a bright t-shirt underneath have been working well for me when working at the sweet shop. Paired with my converse and light make up I've a new found confidence in wearing them.

I've also found I can wear them easily down to the beach with just a bikini underneath or if I'm going out with a crop top or bandeau. The dungarees I have been wearing are from cotton on and cost about $40.

Next I've been obsessed with lorna janes sports bras and crops.

The dark blue one I've found is more comfortable for working out and offers better support while running cause your boobs don't bounce up and down like they are doing a work out of their own. Whereas I find the stripy one more comfortable to wear through the day when I'm at work or just lounging around the house. I've recently been wearing them absolutely everywhere and love them so so much! However lorna jane is quite pricy but the quality of the clothing compensates for the price. The two crops picture above cost about $60 each but are honestly worth every cent. Check out their website and blog:

But if you are looking for something cheaper I'd recommend Forever21 as their active wear is great quality a whole lot cheaper.

Now some shoes I have been loving, first off my low cut converse. They are not the traditional low cuts, but are just as comfortable and cute.

I bought these nearly over a year ago but never really wore them. I rediscovered them in my wardrobe when I was packing for leavers and have been wearing them ever since because they look cute with just about any outfit. I got them in a shop called hype in the Murray street mall in the perth city centre, they cost about $80 but their cost has been lived up to by the amount of wear they get.

Next is these shoes, I'm not sure what they are called, but they are knock offs of the original windsor smith ones from rubi shoes.

They cost me $40 and I love them. I found they pair up best with playsuits, overalls and brightly patterned shorts. I personally think they are great for parties and for casual occasions. However the original version, Windsor smith, are expensive so I recommend getting  a cheaper version for example the rubi shoe type as they are about $80 cheaper and it will not be as much as a loss when this style of shoe eventually goes out of style.

The next two things I've been loving are flower crowns and wired bun wraps. Flower crowns I've talked about before I just love how simple and cute they look, and they aren't expensive at all.

The next is wired bun wraps. It's literally a piece of wire with a cute bit of patterned material around which is moulded around a bun to give it a cute, girly look, like the one picture below.

This cost me about $5 in Gloss Cosmetics and I wear it all the time. Especially to work because I think it suits the style of clothing I wear there, my overalls and cute t-shirts.

I go on about this stuff all the time but honestly it is amazing, the Nivea visage daily essential tinted moisturising day cream.

It has all the same qualities of a moisturiser but lasts longer, is better for your skin and is a lot cheaper. I find that it's not too oily and doesn't require an awful lot of setting powder to keep it in place. It has great coverage and gives quite a natural sunkissed look. I've been using the same 50mL tube since the winter, like if that doesn't say long lasting and only requires a little for great coverage I don't know what else does.

Next is my sportsgirl liquid pen eyeliner. This cost me about $8 in sportsgirl and is great.

You can do really thick liner or you can do really thin it pretty much covers every persons preference. It's very long lasting and doesn't smudge very easily. However it isn't water proof so it will ru if it does get wet. But if you're looking for a cheap good quality eye liner I would definitely suggest this one.

Keeping in the sportsgirl theme, their lipsticks, just ugh! They are long lasting, great quality and only cost $10! They have heaps and heaps of bright colours perfect for summer but the one I've been loving is this peachy colour called spring fling.

It's quite cute and simple and suits a lot of different outfits and you can basically match it to any colour because its that natural. I'm not normally a fan of this sort of colour and choose to stick to classic pinks but this is like the cutest colour that's not pink that I've tried.

As many people know or don't know. I am absolutely obsessed with the products from Lush. My favourite product recently has been the "my boy lollipop" sugar lip scrub which is bubblegum flavoured.

It tastes really really good like I can't explain I love it so much. And the texture after you've used it makes your lips feel so soft and smooth. Although its like $11 which is a little expensive but so worth it! And it's great for Christmas presents and stocking fillers!

So I love lip balms and lip glosses and lipsticks and all that sorta stuff. So while I was on leavers (post exam tradition for Australian school graduates) my lips became very dry and chapped, from the sun and kissing lots of boys which led me into buying a lip balm while I was away. I ended up buying the alba passion fruit nectar lip balm which is totally made of organic products. So 1. its really cheap 2. it tastes amazing and 3. it lasts forever and 4. its so moisturising, after about 2 days of using it i found my lips were back to normal. So if your lips dry out easy like mine in very hot or cold temperatures drop what you are doing and go buy this.

Ok so the picture below isnt actually mine, so credit to the owner of the photo. But I've been loving this style of nail art. Its a simple colour with one finger nail covered in a glittery polish. I've been wearing this a lot. Especially in red with a silver glittered nail because it looks really cute and festive. I think its quite girly, which ties in very well with my style because I'm known for my cutesy, flirty, quite girly choice of clothing.

This one is a bit different, but I've been loving YourTea's tiny tea. Its a type of tea tox that doesnt use any sort of laxative which other types of tea have been known to use. The taste can be quite different at first but I enjoy drinking it. It doesn't make you lose weight. Only you can do that. But it helps with the process of cleansing. It helps to reduce the bloating or bloated feeling that you can get after eating. I found that I wasn't feeling as sluggish or bloated after I started drinking it. My skin cleared up quite a lot. So within about a week I was feeling full of energy I didn't feel as bloated. I'm going to try the "her tea" next as it is not actually a tea tox and is more suited to everyday use at your own dispense. The costs range between $35-$55.  Here is the link to their website:

Since school stopped I've had more time on my hands to actually pick up a book to read that I enjoy and not one of those god awful books that english teachers practically shove down your throat. So I've been reading Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher who is an author, actress, singer and blogger married to Tom Fletcher of McFly. This book is based around the story of Sophie who falls into a relationship with world famous actor Billy Buskin, and follows their story of the highs and lows of their relationship. The inner english student will come out in me now as I believe based on the stories in the media that you may have heard about Giovanna and Tom, and storyline of the novel that the book is almost a reflection of their relationship in the celebrity world while trying to maintain what is considered a "normal" life. But seriously the book is the sweetest thing ever! I absolutely fell in love! I laughed, cried, cringed, seriously worth the read, took me about a day to read from cover to cover and start it all over again.

Now to an unusual favourite. The website "Essena", is owned and run by a 17 year old girl on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. She is absolutely incredibly inspiring and beautiful. She has done so well for herself in the last year empowering girls to love their bodies and treat them with respect, to see further into them. She posts about food, working out, fashion, make up you name it she probably has done a post of youtube video or something along the lines about it. Honestly worth checking out her website, tumblr and youtube. Her way of life has helped me to change mine. I see things in much more of a positive light, I manage to get myself up out of bed early in the morning because I know my body will thank me for it later, and if I'm having an off day then I listen to my body.

 http://www.essena.com.au/

Ok lovelies that is it for december favourites! I hope you all had a lovely christmas and have a wonderful new year! Don't party too hard ;)

Rachel Xx

Favourite Items In My Room Tag

So I was tagged by the lovely Kerry as Kerry's Habitat to do the Favourite Items In My Room Tag. So basically if you're tagged you just have to follow the structure but change it to match your room if some things don't apply :) Please excuse the awful quality of these photos as I'm using my phone.

1. Favourite item in a frame
This is a picture of me and my 5 closest friends. In order there is Bec, Emma, Laura, Anna, me and Sarah has been cut out by the glare, but if you go onto my tumblr blog you can see a better photo. This photo means a lot because I love these guys like my sisters.

2. Best blue, red, pink or yellow item.
My lanterns! They light up my bedroom and just look really pretty.

3. Favourite Item Made Of Paper
My daily affirmations. I was given this by a family friend when I finished high school.

4. Most sentimental item
The stuffed dragon with my grandads name on it. It was given to him when he was fighting cancer by the daffodil foundation, then when he passed my grandma kept it, and she sat him on her bedside table every night, then when she passed, he was given to me, and because I didn't really know my grandad the toy dragon means a lot

5. Thing you are most proud of
My guitar because I'm trying to stick to trying to learn how to play it.

6. Favourite book or magazine
There is too many to choose from!

7. Strangest thing in your room
Lots of little positive quotes around my room!

8. Messiest part of my room
End of my desk. There is a bunch of messy unorganised papers

9. Oldest thing in my room
Jewellery that belonged to my gran. It's very special and very precious to me.

10. Favourite piece of furniture
My bookcase, it's covered in lots of special things and I think it looks pretty, it's basically everything that is me.

I'm Going To Tag
